Plenty Star Ranch is home to Jack and Isa Kirk, their horses Skipper, Born Brave, Cheyenne and Romero, 6 cats Mica, Jerry, Ginger, Smokey, Faith and Oliver, dog Rusty and permanent camper Irwing and his horse Dolly. It is nestled in the magical beauty of the Southern Black Hillls in South Dakota, surrounded by National Forest, adjacent to the Mickelson Trail and Hwy 385, 9.5 miles South of Custer.

For many years, Plenty Star Ranch was well known for their well-bred Spanish Mustangs. During the summer seasons Jack and Isa hosted various groups and young people from Europe for an up-close experience of the local Native American culture, as well as RV campers with and without own horses from all over the US. it still hosts a few long term campers and boarding horses, next to their own four-legged companions.

Still, Jack and Isa always held the dream to open their home to a more spiritual purpose, as the Black Hills have always been held sacred by various Native American tribes and therefore still hold powerful healing energies.

Plenty Star Ranch is now transforming into a Retreat for seminars and other gatherings, such as "Healing Hands", an open and free group for anyone to experience Isa's healing touch treatment and Jack's talks about the spirtual questions many have in our time.

ranch june 6-18-2011-200Jack's parents had purchased 3 homesteads with about 300 acres in total in the 1940ies and occationally used them to graze lifestock, grow strawberries and produce hay for the winter. Jack came to live here in the 1970ies, after the railroad quit running through his parents now still and quiet Lime Kiln a couple miles South of Pringle. Today the old railroad tracks are called the Mickelson Trail, and have been turned into 110 miles rails-to-trails from Deadwood to Edgemont, crossing through the ranch along Hwy 385.

touch the stars-1Isa's Story:

When Jack took me for the first time to a meadow he had named "Touch The Stars", I was instantly overwhelmed with memories of early childhood dreams. This was without a doubt the breathtaking scenery I had woken up with then so many times. Life unfolded, the memory faded, but suddenly in 1993, I had the dreams again while spending a wonderful week in a tipi camp in Montana. I remembered that I knew as a child that I would one day live there, not knowing where "there" actually was and now, here I was, completely blown away by the beauty of this natural meadow, just starting to green up after a long winter, surrounded by rocky hills full of Ponderosa pine trees, aspens and birches, at about 5000 ft elevation in the Southern Black Hills of South Dakota. Up until just a few months before this early May in 1995, South Dakota was but a name on a map that I had to learn in school in geography classes in Germany, where I was born and raised. Now in my late 30ies I finally had mustered up the courage to follow my dreams.

arriving in ny 1995_ djinni-fee and isaWhen Jack and I met in 1995 - a long story of co-incidenses and synchronicities - I, now looking back, can hardly believe how the story unfolded. Jack, then in his late 50ies, had travelled to New York to pick me up, a stranger and her beloved horse, to bring them home to SD. Even though we had never met before in person, he was certain I would stay. During the 3 day journey we talked about our dreams - he wanted to create educational camps for children and teens, I wanted to continue my art, as well as my psychic and healing work as a wholistic practitioner, and both of us wanted horses and leave as much of the natural setting as untouched as possible. Little did I know how natural, rural and almost forgotten in time the place and also the local people still were - afterall, I was a city kid from Munich and cultural shock is a rather mild word for what I encountered, but the beauty of the land was and still is breathtaking and Jack, a sweet-natured, gentle and loving soul, and so my horse Djinni-Fee and I stayed. The first 15 + years:

best of america on horseback 7-09-10 -200After 15 years of breeding Spanish Mustangs and other horses, running trail rides for tourists in the summer seasons, hosting groups from Europe, operating a horse campground and horse boarding stable, teaching natural horsemanship classes, landscaping and developing the old ranch from almost nothing to a most beautiful setting.

Suddenly in 2006 we were forced to take a deep breath when health issues stopped us flat in our busy tracks - thankfully not lasting, but long enough to remind us of our initial dreams.  Now the time has come to build on them, without forcing, pushing or "trying hard' - we simply allow our Spiritual Healing Retreat or "The Winter Retreat of the Rainbow Tribe" as a intuitive channel once told us to name it, to emerge into reality

After majoring in animal science and production from Colorado State University, and so many years of teaching, hard work and raising 8 children plus 4 step children, Jack is ready to pass on his incredible, very intuitive, physical as well as spiritual knowledge of all things nature so abundandly has to offer.

We invite you to share and join us in our dreams. Our home is open for anyone to step in and see Isa's art studio and her portraits painted with pastels. We will offer seminars and lectures ourselves, as well as invite spiritual teachers from all walks of life to offer their wisdom here in lectures and seminars, while Isa offers spiritual healings, flowisas art gallery 200er essence therapy and intuitive life coaching/readings again.

Join Isa when she is busy every summer adding to her selection of Black Hills flower essences, created from local wild flowers. Many years spent in research in the pharmaceutical industry in Germany and alternative animal clinics, using Bach Flower Essences, as well as homeopathics, energy healing and many other modalities, are now bringing balance to all experiences over the past years and aready to be passed on. Ask her for a Tarot Reading or some mystical stories from and about her favorite spiritual teacher, the Inner Merlin, preferably during a enjoyable hike along the creek into the romantic near-by Aspen-filled canyon.

Come, sit around the campfire with Jack and Isa, under the huge old willow trees or along Cugar Creek in the birch and aspen stand, admire Ganesh, the gigantic natural elephant rock, collect rose quartz and turmaline and hike with us to breathtaking overlooks and other vistas. Sit in meditation, listen to and watch the wild birds, trees and abundant variety of native plants, enjoy the clear, sweet water, wind and sun or let Jack and Isa show you how to communicate telepathically with horses, cats and dogs and the plentyful wildlife all around the place and in the surrounding National Forest.
